April 12 is observed in Russia and some former Soviet republics as Cosmonautics Day, and in the rest of the world as Yuri’s Night, in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin’s first manned spaceflight in 1961.

There is a strong argument to be made that 1960s Soviet space nostalgia is even groovier than 1960s NASA nostalgia.
